Pussetoe's was created in 1993 when I bought my first
Birman. I needed to find a name for my cattery, and came
across a rock garden plant called "Pussytoes". This is a
varigated rock garden plant, with pale pink or crimson
flowers. When in bloom, the flowers are small round puffs,
that bloom 4 in a row, with 1 beneath, very much like a
cats paw. This is the flowering plant you see in front of
the cat below. Since this is rather a unique plant, and
Birmans are very unique cats, I felt that this was the
'purr-fect' name for our cattery. Besides, I wanted a
cattery name that people could pronounce easily.
Over the years, we have worked with a small number of
breeders from other countries to increase our blood lines.
You will see other cattery names mentioned throughout our
web site, and a listing for some on our Links page.
In May 2001, CFA accepted the red factor and lynx pattern
Birmans, and a whole new world opened up! This was truely
an exciting start for our 'new colored' Birmans gaining
international recognition in CFA.
