CHIHUAHUA SIZES N STUFF
Many of you ask about the size of our Chi's,
& their dispositions.
ALL our dogs are very friendly & love everyone,
They are quiet dogs & not at all "yappy".
As any one who has met them will tell you.
They don't have a mean bone in their bodys.
"Kayla" being the matriarch & my little watch dog will be wary until she meets you.
Then she will love you to death!
A wonderful trait they have is they are known to "purr".
When happy or content most make gurgling or croaking sounds when cuddled.
So if its possible for a dog to purr a Chi comes as close as it gets!
Also Chihuahua's are a breed thats known to cry.
The average weight of a Chihuahu is only around 5 lbs.
Puppies from the same litter can vary in size,
weight & type.
The big puppy or the small puppy in a litter,
may not be that way when they are all grown up.
It is very hard to accurately judge a puppies adult size.
Some will be fat & some thin.
Some tall & some short.
All these factors can effect their weight.
Many want a "Tea Cup" puppy,
A Tea Cup is an adult dog weighing 4 lbs. or less.
A Micro Tea Cup (the smallest) is usually 2 lbs. or less.
Chihuahua's 4 - 6lbs are standard size or "TOYS".
& a Chi over 6 lbs is considered "family size".
These terms refer to estimated adult size only.
A BIG Chihuahua may weigh 7 or 8 lbs.
& that is not really very much considering an average size cat weighs 12lbs, & can reach 20 or more!
If you would like an estimate on how big your puppy will get,
the average weight for most adult dogs will be ruffly be as stated above depending on the pup you choose... toy, teacup, micro etc.
If a puppy grows to be 3 GREAT !
But if he gets to be 7, will you love him any less? - of course not & if you would, buy a rat !
Because you don't deserve to own a dog at all !!
A Chihuahua is still small, no matter how much it weighs.
On occasion we do have TINY TOYS aka "TEA CUPS", & "MICRO TEA CUPS"
these happen naturally in standard toy litters,
we do NOT "stunt" our puppys to "create" Tea Cups.
(as some breeders do.)
We will not breed a Tea Cup female simply because they are too small to safely have puppies & are not likely to have healthy puppies.
NO good breeder would ever breed such a tiny dog.
Tea Cups tend to be much more fragile & added care must be taken.
They are wonderful little dogs if you want a pet to
pamper & tote around,
but if you want your new pup to keep up with an
active family or life style,
A
standard size "TOY" Chihuahua is
ALWAYS
your best bet!
PLEASE NOTE
The full coat of a long coated Chihuahua can take up to 2 years to develope.
Most are not fully coated such as a Pomeranian.
The coat is moderate.
It can be wavy or straight.
With feathering on the
tail, feet, collar, ears & on the backs of their legs.
The coat is very easy to care for & just a quick brushing keeps it looking great!
Many want dogs that have short hair, but of course they shed too or dogs that dont shed at all,
the problem with dogs that dont shed is they need to be
groomed & clipped professionally quite often & it gets very expensive.
This is often overlooked.
All you need to do with a Chi is to brush them once in a while...professional grooming is not needed.
Being so small its no big deal to give them a brushing.
The Long Coats are more rare & have a very wonderful,
sweet & loving personality.
Short coats tend to be a bit more high strung.
These factors should be considered when choosing your new puppy.
Don't be surprised if your puppy "shivers"
They might be cold, they might be nervous, or they might be a
CHIHUAHUA!
*It is very important to socialize your pet.*
I can not stress this point enough!!
Its very easy to blame the breed or breeder if
YOU RAISE
an unsociable animal.
As for VISITING the
"CATTERY"-"KENNEL"
Its only a "cattery" or "kennel" by name,
as my pets are free to roam the house.
The cats that want to see you, you will see,
the cats that don't, you wont!
They can be anywhere & I am not hunting them down.
They don't like me hunting them down either. lol
There pictures are ALL on this site.
The only way to keep them where you want them is to cage them,
they HATE that & its not going to happen!
The only time the cage is used is to show or potty train kittens.
So don't be shocked to see your baby in the cage!
As I said, I hate hunting them down for visitors.
It would be my full time job!
& its not at all fair to my cats (or dogs) to be bothered
with a steady flow of people in & out
especially when they have babies.
Not to mention the possible viruses.
The traditional search for just the right baby has had people visiting a number of Breeders, pet stores, etc., holding pups or kittens, and making a decision in person.
However.... that tradition is helping to spread diseases!
Parvovirus, is the number one threat to the life of young puppies!
Dog Flu is also deadly & on the rise.
There are also many many cat viruses as most of you well know.
Disease can be carried on clothes, shoes, hands, etc. and spread from human to animal, then animal to animal by touching and handling.
Fleas can also be a problem, ( I hate them & don't want them!) they can be carried in on cloths & can also spread disease.
Our pets are limited from outside contact, and are NOT available for viewing by the public.
NO babies will be shown until they have been vet checked, vaccinated, & are ready to go directly to you & their new forever home.
If a healthy baby is important to you,
choosing your new baby online is smarter and safer for all involved!!!
Kittens are very prone to respiratory problems.
Please do not let any cat breeder tell you that
runny noses & eyes or sneezing is normal in a kitten.
Respiratory problems may be normal in THEIR kittens,
but it is surly not normal in a healthy kitten!
We want your new baby to be as healthy as possible
& we want our cats & dogs to stay that way as well.
SO PLEASE REMEMBER
Due to the ever increasing number of VIRUSES
NO
baby will be shown until shots are given & they are ready to go directly to you !!
The health of my pets as well as your new baby is
